Colin Hayward

Long-listed for the 2007 ReLit Award for Short Stories!

Short-listed for the Ontario Library Service--North, Northern "Lit" Award!

The twenty stories in this volume are travel tales set in such diverse locales as San Diego, California, Sri Lanka, Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, Greece, Mexico, Italy, London, Portugal, Costa Rica and various locations in Canada. Yet regardless of whether Colin Hayward’s other times and other places are exotic or familiar, his readers will find themselves seeing with new eyes. Prepare for boarding...

“In this suite of twenty carefully crafted stories, Colin Hayward, clearly no stranger to the delights of irony, presents various perspectives on the ambiguity and opacity of language, gesture, and situation in our attempts to communicate meaningfully. In impressively lean and pellucid prose, Hayward implies the journey to other places and other times is as much a voyage into the mysteries of oneself.”
─Douglas H. Parker, Professor Emeritus, Laurentian University and Adjunct Research Professor, Carleton University.

"Olga Stein writes that 'a short story can conjure a universe in a matter of pages, get to the crux of any relationship, and neatly cross section a psyche . . . .' Ontario writer Colin Hayward does just that with his collection of stories, Other Times, Other Places. His stories are succinct, immediate and even Hitchcockian in flavour. . . . More from this author, please."
─Mary Barnes, Prairie Fire.
